My son just turned 2 and he is OBSESSED with cars (and trucks, anything with wheels really). For his birthday party, I knew I had to tie cars in somehow. Party favors can get so expensive. This one is cheap and easy - a win!
How to make DIY Car Party Favors
Supplies
- Cars (1 for each guest)
- Card backing ( I used this template printed out on a 5x7 card)
- Rubbing Alcohol (Spray bottle works best but if not, you can make the regular bottle work!)
- Glue (Super glue works best)
Notes
- For the cars Hot Wheels or Matchbox work best, you need something that comes in a plastic covering because that is what you'll be adhering to your cards.
- For the card backing, I used this template. SUPER easy to edit and print!
- I used this super glue. The brush applicator made it super easy to apply.
Steps
1. On the back side of each car, apply a generous amount of rubbing alcohol over the part with the adhesive on it. Let them sit for at least 10 min. The longer they sit, the easier they will be to get off.
2. Peel the plastic covering and the car off of the cardboard.
**If you're having a hard time getting them off after the first application, do not force them. Apply a second coat of rubbing alcohol and let them sit for another 10 min.
3. Prepare your cards. Purchase this template and print yourself or get them printed at your local UPS, Staples, etc. Cards should be 5x7 size at least in order for the cars to fit.
4. Apply super glue to the back of the plastic covering for the car and adhere it to your card. Hold it there for a few seconds and press down along the edges of the plastic to make sure all sides adhere to the card.
That's it!!! They're ready to hand out to your party guests!
